thanks for stopping by! My name is Nik; I’m a tech enthusiast, and team leader. My journey so far has taken me from a software engineer doing contract work for NGOs to managing teams at a large product company, responsible for developing and maintaining distributed systems at scale. 

Having always aspired to be a lead engineer, it was quite a mindset shift, when my manager unexpectedly left the company, and I was asked to fill their role; thereby pivoting me to the management track. But through some great advice and mentorship, I found a passion for the people aspect of the role. The realization that organisations are systems made of human resources, that are developed, maintained and optimised, just as the technical systems I was used to dealing with are, gave me a new perspective and presented me with a whole array of new puzzles to solve, and I’ve been enthusiastically solving them ever since.  

I enjoy system design, and collaborating with product counterparts to unpack the “why”, into meaningful roadmaps that result in products that deliver value to users. I’m passionate about growing people and optimising systems; and embrace any opportunity to build and scale new and innovative initiatives.
